Voriconazole (UK-109496) is an antifungal compound used to treat severe fungal infections. Voriconazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis by inhibiting CYP450-dependent 14-α sterol demethylase, leading to ergosterol depletion in fungal cell membranes. Voriconazole is widely metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 enzyme, mainly CYP2C9 and CYP3A4.
