Ursocholic acid is a bile acid found predominantly in bile of mammals, which can be transformed into deoxycholic acid by the intestinal microflora in mice. Ursodeoxycholic acid is an inhibitor of 7α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and hepatocyte nuclear factor 1α.
