Biological Activity

Timentin has a wide range of antibacterial activity against gram-positive, negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. The components are Ticarcillin Sodium and Clavulanate Potassium, with an effective acid ratio of 15:1. Ticarcillin is a penicillin bactericidal agent, while Clavulanate is an irreversible and highly effective β-lactamase inhibitor. A variety of Gram-positive (G+) and negative (G-) bacteria are capable of producing β-lactamases, which destroy penicillin before it can act on the pathogen. Clavulanic acid restores ticarcillin susceptibility by blocking the β-lactamase enzyme and disrupting the bacterial defense barrier. Clavulanic acid potassium has little antibacterial effect alone, but in combination with ticarcillin makes it a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic suitable for the empirical treatment of a wide range of bacterial infectious diseases.
