SFTI-1 is a head-to-tail bicyclic peptide with a disulfide bond that inhibits the serine protease trypsin with subnanomolar levels of inhibition constants. It can be used as a protease inhibitor or as a molecular grafting scaffold. In addition, by introducing a known tetrapeptide pharmacophore into the bicyclic SFTI-1, a potent ligand for melanocortin can be created.
