TGFBR2 is a uniplex type I membrane protein containing a protein kinase domain. TGFBR2 exists as a heterodimer complex with another receptor protein and binds to TGF - β. Signals triggered by TGF - β receptor complexes trigger various cellular responses. One response is to inhibit cell growth and division. Based on this effect, TGF - β receptor type 2 is sometimes referred to as a tumor suppressor. Defects in TGFBR2 are associated with the development of Marfan syndrome, Loys-Deitz aortic aneurysm syndrome, Osler-Weber-Rendu syndrome, and various tumor types.
Recombinant Human TGFBR2 expressed the target gene encoding Thr23-Asp159 with a human IgG1 Fc tag at the C-terminus.
Measured by its ability to inhibit TGF-beta 1 activity on TF‑1 human erythroleukemic cells, the ED50 for this effect is 18.41 ng/ml in the presence of 100pg/ml of recombinant human TGF-beta 1.
