Polysucrose 400 is used together with sodium diatrizoate (Paque) to create Ficoll-Paque a density mixture used for the separation of cells and organelles, especially blood derived lymphocytes and monocytes. It may be used in tissue engineering and macromolecular conformation research for the development, evaluation and use of macromolecular crowding (MMC) systems and configurations. Polysucrose 400 may be used in cell freeze-drying research.
