Metoprolol is a selective β1 receptor blocker used for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, angina pectoris and mild to moderate hypertension. It blocks β1-adrenergic receptor with log Kd values of -7.26±0.07, -6.89±0.09, -5.16±0.12 for β1, β2, and β3 adrenoceptors, respectively.
