LW479 is a potent histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACI) that down-regulates EGFR expression. Apparently, LW479 blocks the binding of the transcription factor Sp1 and HDAC1 to the EGFR promoter region. LW479 potently induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis breast cancer cell lines. Also LW479 suppressed breast tumor growth and pulmonary metastasis in nude mice.
