Levonorgestrel (Levonelle) is a synthetic progestogen used as an active ingredient in some hormonal contraceptives. It is a hormonally active levorotatory enantiomer of the racemic mixture norgestrel. It is a gonane progestin derived from 19-nortestosterone.
