Biological Activity

Irbesartan (Avapro) belongs to the class of medicines called angiotensin II inhibitor antihypertensives. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Irbesartan works by blocking the action of a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, Irbesartan relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. [1, 2]
