Ganirelix acetate is a competitive gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist that directly binds to endogenous molecules competing for the receptor and causes a rapid decrease in estradiol levels. Ganirelix acetate can be used in studies related to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and preterm labor.
