Gal-β-CD comprises β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) modified with galactosyl (Gal). The galactosyl are linked to the hydroxyl groups of β-CD via α-1,6-glycosidic bonds, forming a characteristic core-shell structure with a hydrophilic outer layer and a hydrophobic inner cavity. This architecture enables the inclusion of diverse molecules while exhibiting biocompatibility and degradability. Gal-β-CD is primarily employed as a carrier or additive. For instance, when used as a feed additive, it modulates α-galactosidase activity via cyclodextrin inhibitors, thereby optimising the digestive enzyme action cycle.
