Darglitazone is a highly potent and selective PPAR-γ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ) agonist. Darglitazone is a thiazolidinedione approximately 200x more potent than ciglitazone. Darglitazone restores euglycemia and reduced circulating TG and VLDL in the ob/ob mice. Also Darglitazone offers a significant neuroprotection and promotes recovery after a hypoxic-ischemic insult in the diabetic ob/ob mouse.
