Biological Activity

Cytochalasin D (Zygosporin A) is a cytopermeable actin polymerization inhibitor derived from fungi, which inhibits g-actin -- Cofilin interaction by binding g-actin. Cytochalasin D (Zygosporin A) can also inhibit the binding of Cofilin to F-actin, reduce the release of exosomes and induce YAP phosphorylation. Cytochalasin D is a potent inhibitor of actin polymerization. Cytochalasin D disrupts actin microfilaments. Cytochalasin D activates the p53-dependent pathways. Cytochalasin D inhibits smooth muscle contraction. Cytochalasin D inhibits insulin-stimulated glucose transport.

Protocol (for reference only)
Cell Experiment
Cell lines ScN2a cells
Preparation method ScN2a cells were seeded in 12-well plates (BD Falcon) with a growth medium 1.5×105 cells/well. The cells were treated after 24 h with or without 10 μM cytochalasin D and incubated for a further 24 h. Cytochalasin D was dissolved in DMSO (dimethyl sulphoxide), and thus DMSO (0.1%)-treated cells were used as controls.
