Budesonide is a glucocorticoid steroid for the treatment of asthma, non-infectious rhinitis. Budesonide reverses DNA hypomethylation and modulates expression of cancer related genes. Budesonide prevents formation of lung adenomas and adenocarcinomas in mice following inhalation or oral administration. Budesonide is also a DNA methyltransferase activator.
