ATB-346 suppresses gastric prostaglandin E(2) synthesis as effectively as naproxen, but produces negligible damage in the stomach and intestine. ATB-346 accelerates healing of pre-existing gastric ulcers. ATB-346 significantly reduces the severity of inflammation (proinflammatory cytokines, apoptosis of neural tissue, and nitrosative stress) that characterizes the secondary effects of SCI.
