Arimoclomol maleate (also known as BRX-220) is a heat shock protein amplifier, and is potentially useful for the treatment of Niemann-Pick disease type C (NP-C). Arimoclomol stimulats a normal cellular protein repair pathway through the activation of molecular chaperones. In vivo, Arimoclomol (20 mg/kg; orally for 5 days) has a protective effect against cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK)-induced acute pancreatitis.
