Biological Activity

Aluminum Hydroxide is an orally active main form of aluminum used as adjuvant. Aluminum Hydroxide also acts as adjuvant to compensate low inherent immunogenicity of subunit vaccines. In vivo, Aluminum Hydroxide (100 mg/kg/day; orally; 7 days) increases lipid peroxidation and decreases the activity of SOD in the brain. Aluminum hydroxide is insoluble in water but soluble in acid or alkali.
