6'-Sialyllactose is a salivary acidified human milk oligosaccharide that promotes the proliferation of bifidobacteria and shapes the gut microbiota. 6'-Sialyllactose promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria and inhibits the proliferation of harmful bacteria. 6'-Sialyllactose exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic activities. 6'-Sialyllactose also inhibits toll-like receptor 4 signalling and prevents the development of necrotising enterocolitis.
