Biological Activity

2-aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid (AIP) is a competitive phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) inhibitor.

Protocol (for reference only)
Cell Experiment
Cell lines 4 cm seedlings of field beans
Preparation method Seeds of field bean (V. faba L.) were germinated at 25 °C in Hoagland's solution. Seedlings with approximately 4-cm long main roots were selected for the experiment. Seedlings were incubated in Hoagland's solution supplemented with 2-aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid (AIP) at different concentrations, 0, 1, 10 or 100 μM, of AIP. Long-term AIP-treatments (24 h) were used for asynchronously grown roots, and short term treatments (3.5 h) were applied to synchronous roots at G1 or G2-phase of the cell cycle. Root tips (2 mm) were collected for Feulgen staining, immunofluorescence and analyses of polyamines.
Concentrations 0, 1, 10 or 100 μM
