| Description: | Calprotectin (S100A8/A9) which has a wide plethora of intra- and extracellular functions. It contributes to leukocyte function, regulates the cytoskeleton, and activates intracellular NADPH oxidase. It is produced by neutrophils and monocytes, and forms Ca2+-dependent heterodimer/heterotetramer complexes (termed calprotectin) with S100A9. |
